Cheaper Implants: VN or TH?
Vietnam is usually slightly cheaper, but the gap between two clinics in the same country is bigger than the gap between countries — so picking by price alone is the wrong move.
Quick answer for Australians
Vietnam edges Thailand on price — but the clinic you choose matters far more than the country you fly to.

The short answer: Vietnam is usually a little cheaper than Thailand for dental implants — but the gap between clinics within a country tends to matter more than the gap between countries, so pick the clinic first.
A “cheap country” is not a clinical plan. Australians who lock Vietnam or Thailand before comparing verified quotes often leave more money on the table than the average Vietnam–Thailand price gap itself.
Price snapshot (AUD, indicative 2026)
| Item | Vietnam (typical) | Thailand (typical) | Australia (typical) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single implant (incl. abutment + crown range) | $1,200–$2,500 | $1,500–$3,000 | $4,500–$7,000 |
| All-on-4 per arch | $8,000–$13,000 | $9,000–$15,000 | $25,000–$35,000+ |
These are clinic-network ranges, not guaranteed quotes. Material brand, grafting, provisional teeth and warranty length all move the number.
Why “Vietnam is cheaper” is only half the answer
Vietnam usually sits slightly under Thailand on headline implant and All-on-4 pricing. That gap is real — and often smaller than:
- the spread between a budget clinic and a verified specialist clinic in the same city
- whether bone grafting or a sinus lift is required
- whether your quote includes a provisional and a permanent crown, or only the fixture
- second-trip flights and accommodation (both destinations usually need two trips for conventional implants)
If Clinic A in Bangkok is $400 cheaper than Clinic B in Ho Chi Minh City but uses an obscure implant system your Australian dentist cannot service, the “cheaper” option is more expensive over five years.
A better decision sequence for Australians
- Confirm the clinical plan — implant count, grafting, timeline — with imaging, not a Facebook quote.
- Request like-for-like quotes from verified clinics in Vietnam and Thailand (same brand tier, same inclusions).
- Add the trip — two return flights, stays, time off, insurance — in the true-cost calculator.
- Check repairability — Straumann, Nobel Biocare, Osstem and similar recognised brands keep Australian aftercare options open.
- Only then pick the country — as the logistics wrapper around the winning clinic, not the starting filter.
When Vietnam usually wins the cost argument
- You are price-sensitive on a single implant or straightforward All-on-4
- You want strong clinic depth across Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang
- Your case does not need the largest hospital-scale facility
When Thailand can still be the better buy
- Your case is complex and you want maximum facility infrastructure
- A Thailand quote that is slightly higher still includes clearer warranty, brand and aftercare terms
- Your preferred verified clinic and surgeon sit in Bangkok or Phuket and the all-in delta after flights remains acceptable
What not to do
- Do not book on a “from $X” website price without an itemised plan
- Do not assume the cheapest country automatically clears safety and vetting
- Do not ignore second-trip cost — both destinations share that logistics pattern for most implant cases

Sample all-in delta (one implant)
Assume a single implant with crown, no graft, two trips:
| Vietnam path | Thailand path | |
|---|---|---|
| Treatment (mid-range) | ~$1,800 | ~$2,200 |
| Two return flights (east coast AU) | ~$1,400–$2,200 | ~$1,400–$2,200 |
| Stays (combined) | ~$800–$1,500 | ~$900–$1,600 |
| Rough all-in | Often still well under AU $4,500–$7,000 | Similar — clinic quote decides the winner |
The country labels barely move this table. The verified clinic quote does.
